Championship decider between Ronan and another driver!
Qualified in Pole Position after an excellent days testing the day before where Ronan was quickest all day. His championship rival could only manage to qualify in eighth.
Heat Winner: Ronan pulled away from the pack and had a fantastic race, where he won the race unchallenged, two seconds ahead of second place. Ronan's championship rival finished in 6th.
Pre-Final Second place finish: An excellent start saw Ronan lead for almost the entire race, it was looking like he would win the Pre-Final just like the Heat, but on the final lap he was overtaken. Ronan decided to settle for second and not try to take back the lead, he still had the final to go and he would start on the front row. In contrast, Ronan's championship rival broke down on the rolling lap of the Pre-Final, and would therefore start the Final at the back of the grid.
Final Runner-Up: After starting second on the grid, Ronan and the leading driver pulled away from the pack. Ronan was pushing the second place driver hard, so they could work together to pull away from the field. On lap five Ronan swapped places with the leader a couple of times, where Ronan had carried more speed into the corners and saw a clear way past - to gasps from the crowd as a racing incident could cost Ronan the championship title! With Ronan in second, the two drivers were nose-to-tail as they extended their lead from third on every lap, and during the final lap of any other race we would expect Ronan to be making moves for the lead - but knowing what was at stake Ronan did not attempt an overtake and settled for a Runner-Up trophy for round 8 - but took the chequered flag an incredible 11 seconds from the third place driver, with his fist in the air knowing he had just sealed the 2010 Easykart UK Cadet Championship!
Looking forward to Defending the E Plate Open Championship at Lydd International in Kent in October, with the new number 1 on the kart!
